Papa Don is so much fun!

This past weekend, we had a wonderful visit with my dad. We were his last stop before heading home after a stay with Matt and Marisa and meetings in Houston. Of course, it is always great to see family! He came in last Thursday (10/16) and left on Monday morning (10/20)...I'm sure he was exhausted, as we kept him quite busy!

Friday, when Trevon got out of school, all of us (except Rick) went to Palo Duro Canyon. It was a beautiful day, so of course the scenery was great to look at.

When we got home, I noticed that Trevon was not able to move his neck...then I noticed a huge bump on the back of his neck. Just about that time, Rick got home from work, so he immediately took Trevon to Urgent Care. Unfortunately, it looked like Trevon had an ear infection and that his gland had become infected.

Saturday morning, Kiahna had a game to cheer at, so I took her while everyone else took their time getting around. While I was at the game, Rick called to let me know that he had set off the fire alarm, and that the alarm company had called him immediately. He seems to be testing our alarm system a lot lately...it's quite humerous. At least we know it works! When Kiahna and I returned, Rick, Dad and Trevon headed up to the hospital to have Trevon's blood drawn. I wasn't there, but it sounded like quite the experience. From what I heard...the phlobotimist had to threaten Trevon with a straight jacket since he was not cooperating...when they did finally have him still, my dad said that once they inserted the needle, Trevon started yelling "Get it out, Get it out." He is the sweetest strong-willed child!

Later that day, we enjoyed a time of miniture golf. The kids loved playing with Papa Don! It was especially fun watching him try to teach Kiahna how to hold the club and how to stand.

When we headed home, Papa Don suggested watching a movie. Of course, the first thing Trevon suggested was watching the movie with popcorn and chocolate milk...a Papa Don tradition!

Sunday morning, we all went to church. We have loved our church so much, so we were happy to finally share it with my dad. He also got to meet some of our closest friends here, which was great. From church, we had to rush home to eat real fast and get Kiahna off to another game. It's always fun watching Kiahna try to cheer. She is so little compared to the other girls on her team. Trevon missed playing his sport both Saturday and Sunday because of his neck. It was sad, because Trevon really wanted papa to see him play.

The rest of the gaps in time were mostly spent playing sports on the Wii and playing cards. Of course, we didn't go hungry over the weekend either. Dad got to try some of our most favorite local restaurants...Braums, Rosa's, and Buns over Texas.

Both kids were so sad to say goodbye to Papa Don...especially Trevon! He just loves that Papa Don plays anything he suggests. I shed a few tears as well. It has been hard for our family everytime family has come and left. It's always a reminder that we live so far from everyone.
