California Trip

After one year of no vacations, our family was ready to hit the road to visit family. We purchased a Subaru to get us there (and also for the new baby that will be joining our family in January). We drove straight through on August 8 from Amarillo to Porterville, CA., and we enjoyed surprising my (Jacinda's) parents who had also gone to CA for a visit. It was a long trip, but well worth it. On Saturday the 9th, our family had a great big family reunion.

Trevon had a great time playing flag football with the big kids, but was very disappointed that he did not win the wheelbarrow race.

Kiahna enjoyed watching all of the festivities.

It was great getting to see family! We stayed in Porterville until the 14th. We had a good time with my Grandma and Grandpa, Dad and Mom, and other family that stopped by from time to time. We happened to be there to celebrate my Grandpa's 76th birthday! He still looks so young. We also got to visit with our good friends Kirk and Dana while we were there. It was fun to catch up. Also, my Mom and Dad went down to Bakersfield with us to visit our old church--Valley Bible Fellowship. It was a great message that night!

The kids loved spending time with mommy's cousin Jordan and enjoyed swimming in the backyard.

We left on the 14th to head down to the San Diego area for a few days. Boy did we ever feel like we were back at home! We went to my Grandpa and Grandma's each day, where my Grandma insisted on feeding us often! My Grandpa had just had surgery, so he didn't get to move around a lot, but it was good seeing them.

We had so much fun in Southern California, and certainly were not in a hurry to come back to Amarillo. We went to the beach (which Trevon called his "best day ever"), we spent time visiting with our friends Mark and Christine and Dusty and Nicole, we visited our old church "North Coast Church", and visited with my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Mark and my cousin Dustin and his wife Courtney. It was the much needed vacation that we had hoped for.
