A Great Time with Friends

We have been blessed with really great friends everywhere we have lived. It is amazing to me that God has always taken us from an area of loneliness and filled that void with wonderful people. He did just that in Amarillo...a place that we thought we would never make friends. He blessed our lives with several friends, which caused great sadness when the time came to move once again. As hard as it was to move from Amarillo, it helped knowing that our friends, Chad and Erika, would be moving to Houston just a few short weeks after our move. It would put them just over two hours away from us...in Texas terms, that is a short distance.

Erika, being the wonderful person that she is, came over and picked the kiddos and me up for what turned out to be a fun vacation. We spent five days with their family. It was a jammed packed, full of fun, five day trip that had us begging for more...even through all of the tiredness. Rick joined us for the weekend and he too had a blast!

Trevon and Kiahna had so much fun being with Chad and Erika's children, Luke and Sam. They enjoyed playing on their waterslide, swimming at the YMCA, playing at the splashpad, going to the Gulf of Mexico, and spending another day at the Y. Of course, when we actually spent time at the house, the kiddos enjoyed playing video games, watching movies, and whatever creative play they could come up with. Kiahna especially liked playing frisbee with their dog, Ruby. When nighttime came, we enjoyed hunting for frogs. Trevon and Kiahna watched as Luke and Sam used their skills at catching the frogs. Unfortunately, after night one, we had to be especially careful around the dark yard after Chad found a copperhead snake lurking in the bushes. He found another one in the backyard the next day. Although we were a bit more on edge, that didn't stop us from having fun on our frog hunts. The kids were so sad to leave, that they have already been asking when they can see Luke and Sam again.
